Description and characteristics
Melvino 2016 (100% Merlot)
A vivid ruby color in the glass, echoed on the nose. The bouquet reveals a lively, subtly animal character that gradually opens into blueberry jam, followed by a full palate of cherries and sweet, ripe tannins, finishing with gentle oak.
Hand-harvested grapes, gently destemmed without crushing the berries; the must is fermented on the skins for 14-18 days with regular punch-downs of the cap. Pressing is followed by malolactic fermentation to soften the wine. Matured for 6 months in stainless steel tanks, then for 1 – 2 years in barrique or oak casks.
